They are probably acid (salt) etched, get a good chrome polish and something like the Mother's Powerball and get to work, depending on how long the salt was on the wheels you may or may not be able to get all the marks out. Chrome wheels need to be kept clean and "waxed" in the winter to help protect them. WebClean the chrome of dirt with soapy water, or use car wash soap for car parts because dish soap may strip the paint. Mild dish soap does the trick for locating most rusty areas. Dip the foil into salt water and rub it along the rust spots with minimal pressure. Re-dip it in clean water as needed and continue until the stain disappears.
